We are a non-denominational Christian Pre-School of approximately 40 children. Attending are pre-schoolers ages 2 to 5. Our school year begins in September and ends in May, following the Durham Public School calendar. Children from many local churches attend GPCP along with many children who do not have a church home. Since we are known for providing a quality program in a Christian setting, we attract families from a wide variety of backgrounds.
Our preschool program is designed to support and extend young children's learning through direct experiences. Children learn when actively engaged, so we provide a balance of teacher-directed and child-initiated activities. Our day is a structured one and we follow the same basic schedule each day. Specific activities are planned and encouraged to develop fine motor skills, gross motor skills, perceptual discrimination, cognitive development and social and emotional development.
Grove Park Chapel Pre-School is a ministry of Grove Park Chapel and is non-denominational in nature. Jesus Christ is central to our faith and philosophy. Our celebrations through the school year are focused on Biblical truths. At Christmas we focus on the celebration of Jesus' birth, at Easter we honor the sacrifice Jesus made for us with his death and celebrate his triumphant resurrection.
Throughout the year we weave our curriculum around and talk about how God created the world and us, and that He loves us and sent Jesus to us. At this level we pray together, read Bible stories, and participate in a weekly chapel time. |
